Cambodia to Increase Cambodia Trade with North Korea

October 29th, 2007 · 1 Comment

Cambodia plans to sign an agreement with North Korea to increase Cambodia trade according to Forbes.

While it is unclear to what extend the agreement will increase Cambodia trade with North Korea, the diplomatic ties that the two countries are forging are not likely to go over well with the US.

If an increase of Cambodia trade with North Korea continues, the US may either step in and council the Cambodia government to do otherwise or simply increase investment and Cambodia trade in order to increase its allegiance with the US as a counter measure.

Cambodia’s decision to do trade with any country in the world (in this case North Korea) should be not be U.S concern for any reason. Cambodia wishes to be friend with anyone in the world. This is only a matter of trades for the sake of Cambodia’s economy, not politic , culture, or military. So this should play little concern for the U.S. After all, there is a saying, ” He’s my enemy today, but he might be my friend tomorrow.” Who knows for sure if North Korea is an enemy of the U.S. consider how American foreign policy in the world has been very wishy-washy, look at Vietnam and America for example, didn’t those two were enemies 3 decades ago? Will North Korea remains America’s enemy or friend in 3 decades or so?

I also must add that South Korea has been quite connected with Cambodia affair lately, trades that is. Anyone notice the establishment of Cambodia Stock Exchange in 2009 with help of South Korea. Hmmmmm….
